IFTA HQ and TruckLogics: which fits an owner-operator?
Last updated October 7, 2026
The short version
TruckLogics is a trucking management system. Dispatch, invoicing, driver settlements, maintenance, and IFTA reports come in one subscription. IFTA HQ does one thing: it calculates your quarterly IFTA return for free, in your browser, with every step shown.
If you already need a management system for the rest of the business, TruckLogics covers IFTA as part of it. If all you need each quarter is the IFTA figures, a free calculator may be enough.
Price
On TruckLogics' pricing page as archived on May 12, 2026, the Owner Operator plan for 1 to 2 trucks cost $35.96 a month billed yearly or $39.95 a month billed monthly, with a 7-day free trial. Plans for larger fleets cost more. The same page offered IFTA reports on their own at $24.95 per report for business owners.
IFTA HQ is free and has no account. TruckLogics' prices may have changed since that page was archived, so check its current pricing page before you decide.
Getting your miles and fuel in
TruckLogics can import distance and fuel data from its own dispatches and from Samsara and Motive, and it also offers manual entry and bulk upload templates.
IFTA HQ uses manual entry. You type the miles and gallons for each jurisdiction, one row per state or one row per trip, and rows for the same state are added together.
What you get at the end
TruckLogics generates IFTA reports in state-specific formats for current and prior quarters.
IFTA HQ shows the tax due or credit for each jurisdiction, the whole calculation step by step, and a PDF worksheet that records the rate source and the date the rates were retrieved. It does not file the return. You copy its figures onto your base jurisdiction's return.
Which one fits
TruckLogics fits if you want dispatch, invoicing, and IFTA in one place, or if you want IFTA miles to come straight from an ELD or your dispatch records.
IFTA HQ fits if you already track miles and fuel by state yourself and want to check or prepare the quarterly numbers without a subscription.
